For me it’s a glimpse
And a smile on your face
A touch of your hands
An honest embrace

“Gwen?”
She looks up over the edge of her book, eyebrows raised at Grey Wind, standing on his hind legs at the bedroom door. She can just see the pair of hands holding him up under his front legs.
“Yeeees?”
“Robb would just like to say he’s sorry for eating the last pint of icecream.” The disembodied voice is simultaneously gruff and high-pitched. ”He’s so sorry he sent me to apologize.”
The dog yawns.
“Ruff?” For emphasis, he pushes Grey Wind forward a bit.
Gwen presses her lips together, puts her book down, and throws back the covers. ”Come to bed.”
Robb triumphantly sets Grey Wind down and starts walking in, grin bright. ”I meant the dog,” she says, pleasantly, beckoning even as the husky gallops past and flops onto Robb’s side of the bed.

“You know,” he says, idly, before looking up. ”This would be a lot easier in the laundry rooms, I’d wager.”
“The company isn’t as pleasant,” she says, unthinkingly - before she realizes what she’d just admitted to. She quickly ducks her head and continues wringing out the clothes, trying to ignore the heat of his gaze.
