To be honest with you Anon, I could care less for any Gwen/[insert major characters from Merlin] ships after 4x09 because of obvious reasons that fall under the category of: why Gwen is too good for this show and anyone in it good lord make it stop hurting.

But, say 4x09 didn’t happen? I could dig Merlin/Gwen, just like I could dig just about anyone/Gwen because I ship Gwen with anything that would be good for her and will bring her any minimal amount of happiness - which is something she doesn’t receive from canon. Wait, you asked for opinions - not feels.

Right, well here goes. I think it’s a valid ship. Especially when the show started out with this cutesy sort of Merlin/Gwen thing where Gwen’s got a crush on possibly Camelot’s most oblivious, most idiotic, helpless buffoon but has a good heart and suppose that’s all that matters and I was okay with shipping them then because Arthur was still a huge prat at that point. (At that point? ~~ 4 years later~~~). For a nonromantic argument, I think they’d be a good pair to get things done when it comes to progressing the outlook on magic and magic users. This probably says a lot about the neglected potential of the show when the servants have the best outlook on sorcery. I like early series Merlin/Gwen - not much for post series 3 Merlin/Gwen though. Mostly because Merlin (the character) started to get really bad by then.

MEANWHILE GWEN IS STILL MY FLAWLESS QUEEN, SHUT UP LEAVE ME ALONE.
